우리 교회는 미국 남 침례교단(SBC)에 소속이 되어있는 교회입니다.
우리 교회는 1975년 9월 28일 성인 13명과 어린이 3명으로 노폭 침례교회라는 이름으로 시작되었습니다.
1976년 당시 노폭과 포츠머스 지역 선교를 담당하던 도지덕 목사님을 1대 담임목사로 모시게 되면서 그 해 8월 22일 예배 장소를 트리니티 교회에서 템플 교회로 옮기고 교회를 타이드워터 한인침례교회로 부르게 되었습니다.
2003년, 2대 담임목사인 조낙현 목사님의 부임으로 계속하여 타이드워터 지역의 한인사회의 복음화와 제자화를 위하여 힘쓰고 있습니다.
우리 교회의 역사는 곧 살아계신 하나님의 역사요 신실하심입니다.
앞으로 우리 교회가 걸어갈 미래 역시 하나님의 역사 가운데 이루어질 것을 기대합니다.Our church is affiliated to the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC).
13 adults and 3 children began to gather on September 28, 1975, under the name of Norfolk Baptist Church.
In 1976, Rev. Ji Duk Do, who was serving as a regional missionary overseeing Norfolk and Portsmouth, was installed as the first senior pastor.
The church was then able to begin meeting at Temple Church’s building and was renamed Tidewater Korean Baptist Church on August 22, 1976. Rev Nakhyun Joseph Cho, the second and current senior pastor of the church was installed in 2003, and the church is continuing its endeavor to gospelize and make disciples of the Korean immigrant community in the Tidewater region.
The history of our church is a testament of the living God’s work in and through us.
